Wine characteristics: the Moscatel is fermented at low temperatures and the Chardonnay is fermented in barrel and aged for 3 months on its lees. This unique combination of grape varieties and winemaking techniques results in a nice, complex and fresh wine on the nose and well structured on the palate.
Grape varieties: Chardonnay 65% and Moscatel 35%.
Vineyard: 25 years old vines of Chardonnay and Moscatel, located in Finca Collado. Sandy and chalky soils in terraces. Trellis system and low planting density, with irrigation support with groundwater.
Altitude: 600 m.
Harvest: by hand in August 2018.
Characteristics of the vintage: 2018 was a year with abundant rainfall in spring and winter which was followed by an increasingly dry summer with only a little rain in early September. The result was excellent and 2018 is one of the best vintages of Finca Collado Chardonnay Moscatell.
Winemaking and aging: fermentation for 15 days at 15°C. Chardonnay is barrel fermented and aged for 3 months on its lees. Subsequent blend with Moscatel.
Bottling: February 2019.
Production: 15 837 bottles.
Tasting notes: pale golden colour, appearance of a young wine but delicate at the same time. On the nose, combination of floral and tropical fruit notes with honey and citrus with a gentle hint of lightly toasted oak. On the palate, it shows a smooth, seductive and fresh entry, with just the right acidity level to transmit this freshness. This balance leads to a pleasant and subtle aftertaste, where well blended aromas of aging and tropical fruits stand out on a long finish.
Food pairing: on its own or for appetizers, seafood, pasta and rice dishes, fresh fruits, nuts and pastries.
Alcohol: 12.5% vol.
